An informative book. It makes a fine reference for interpreting Mythology with somewhat of a historical perspective and giving a view of influence upon Greek Mythology. I think i like best seeing the genealogies of the different gods from the stories. I previously never fully saw Zeus and the others fit into the story quite right. This book opens door to vast area of history and mythology. I have heard many of Greek gods and their stories. The Greek mythology is considered to be one of the oldest of all mythologies among all civilization of the world. Many of the modern day tales and literature is also based on the roots of these Greek myths so it is necessary to have a thorough knowledge about the topic. This book is surely one of the best reference book for Greek Mythology.
The writer of this book took no effort to proofread or edit . The book is wrought with bad grammar, missing words, misspellings, and sometimes poor sentence structure. I found myself skipping sections that were redundant with the information given in previous chapters. It was as if the writer was just trying to make the book longer. Also, some of the premises made no sense or maybe I should say conclusions. I would not read any of this writer's other books.
I have always loved to read mythological stories and most especially, the Greek Mythology. It's such a great wonder how colorful, precise and popular it is that almost everyone around the world have at least heard about the story of Hercules or Oedipus. Before I get carried away, about this book, this is great for students or if you have a student and wants them to be knowledgeable about the subject. If you are a collector of anything about Greek Mythology, well, this is a good addition to the library.
There's so much to learn from this book. Learning myths of Gods, Goddesses and ancient heroes have always been fascinating specially the introduction of major legends in Greek Mythology tackled in this book which is very significant in today's entertainment. If you are going to buy one book on Greek Mythology, this should be the one. It is amazing on so many levels. I think I like best seeing the genealogies of the different gods from the stories. I previously never fully saw how Zeus and the others fit into the story quite right. Now I not only understand how everyone fits together but also have learned many of the stories I have never heard of before. Ancient Greece was an exciting period of history. This is great for kids too since the stories are so exciting!
Very informative and interesting to read! The book was thoroughly exemplified. I remember taking up Greek mythology in our English class during Junior years, and I think it would be more intriguing and compelling if we had this manual, because it is complete with all general information needed to help us more figure out the names and all the sort.

It makes a fine reference for interpreting mythology with somewhat of a historical perspective and giving a view of influences upon Greek myth. I am in process of re-reading and adding notes for my own future reference. Margera's style is easy to read and enjoyable.
