This book follows how a mother's attempt to fit into the beat culture at all costs affected her children. In a larger sense, it epitomizes why following any cult or using a movement to justify ones actions or to keep from accepting responsibility can have dehumanizing, devastating effects. of a young girl growing in the 60's. Captivating and exciting it difficult put down. Truly a must read for those of us
who came of age during that era.

I just finished Night Train and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I grew up in the 60's so there was a lot here that I could relate to. I have recommended this book to all my friends.
I did not want to put this book down. The plot is grounded in world-shaking events from the early 60's and takes the reader through situations that are, in turn, hilarious, heartwarming and harrowing. I found myself wishing for a second book so I could see what happens next for these endearingly quirky characters.
Connie has really captured the flavor of that time in history. The reader really rides that train with her!
If you want a truthful and quick developing life story, this book is for you. I felt as though I had stepped back in time. Very honest and moving stories within the lives of a special family. You will not be disappointed.

Kate is a protagonist that is simultaneously trapped within the prison of her family dynamics while unleashed on an adventure without borders. Her journey is completely relatable, even though the circumstances would be hard to believe if they weren’t based on the author’s own experiences.
Night Train is a legitimate page-turner and I look forward to whatever Constance Hood has in store for us next.
